Today we're diving deep into one of our custom presets in the TC Electronic Alter Ego X4, the 'Copykat'. In 1958, Charles Watkins introduced the world to a portable unit that could make a guitar sound like it was at the bottom of the Grand Canyon. And the TC Electronic gang has developed a new version of their Flashback X4 digital delay inspired by tough-to-model echoes from the Binson Echorec to the Watkins Copicat and Tel-Ray Deluxe Organ Tone. Tripped-out Flashback Doppelganger Though the Alter Ego is relatively large, you can’t argue with the elegant simplicity of the design.

Really, really cool
Verified PurchaseThe sounds in here are very authentic. I used to have a tube echoplex in the 70's and this device nails the sound as well as the other sounds. - Glen Y.
So close
Verified PurchaseKind of a shame really. I feel like this pedal was only okay, but it's just a couple or three clicks away from being great but it just isn't there... so it is what it is. Awesome - Buy One
Verified PurchaseI love this for the price..I bought this because it models vintage tape and analog delays and it does this very very well. The coolest part is that i have the tone print slots loaded with the 2290 Digital Delay, the Reverse Delay, the Bright Analog Delay, and the Dynamic Delay from the Flashback X… - Sandy T.
Fantastic!
I really love this unit. Lots of useful settings. - L V.
so-so
Verified PurchaseSo-so compared to actual hardware tape delays. Portability and maintenance makes it worthwhile, but cannot really replace the real thing, if you are used to the real thing.
